Family of William H. Crago

Generation No. 2

WILLIAM H. CRAGO (GEORGE CRAGO) was born 24 August 1832, and died 30 December 1904.  He married EMILY JANE KING 30 May 1854 in Putnam Co, WV, daughter of MARTIN KING and FRANCES WILKERSON.  She was born 11 November 1835, and died 20 January 1919.

vi. WILLA E. CRAGO, b. Abt. 1863, Putnam County, VA.

viii.     WILLIAM PHILLIP SHERATON CRAGO, b. 12 August 1868, Putnam Co, WV.

ix. MILLIE A. CRAGO, b. 05 April 1872; d. 09 May 1875.

Notes:

William’s sister Sarah was married to Emily Jane King’s brother Rhoderick.

William & Emily are buried in Old Antioch Cemetery – Confidence, Putnam County, W.Va.

There is not much known about William.

However, the following is quoted from the research of William Earnest Craigo Jr.

“William (Bill) I have found out very little about him other than he served in the Union Army during

the Civil War. My dad told me that he always attended the GAR meetings in Charleston

And that he always drank too much.”

GAR stood for Grand Army of the Republic and was a veteran’s organization for Union Soldiers of the Civil War.
